The City of Lloydminster’s Community Peace Officer program has expanded to include the employment of Level 1 Community Police Officers (CPO1s).
Three of the City’s Peace Officers’ now maintain a higher level of enforcement authority that includes ability to conduct traffic stops for moving violations.
“Residents of the community clearly indicated through discussion and feedback that they wanted to see more traffic enforcement,” said Doug Rodwell, City Clerk. “The addition of Level 1 Community Peace Officers allows the City to more effectively respond to the communities’ safety concerns.”
Peace Officers will work closely with RCMP and their traffic personnel to address matters relating to violations such as speeding, stunting and excessive noise.
The City’s Bylaw Services Department may be reached by email to bylaw@lloydminster.ca or by phone at 780-874-3710.
