I don't like it one bit

Dear editor:

I don’t like it. Editor Mike is leaving. He is going to Vancouver Island for two months then back to Winnipeg to stay with his mother who has health issues.
To me, Mike is a special friend. At my age, you don’t make many new friends. Most of my friends are old, like me and dying like flies. I would like to thank you Mike for coming into my life and being a friend.
We had some good times together, sampling Crown Royal and talking politics. Mike is in that media group that are “Harper Haters” and now Trump bashers. We don’t agree on politics but it’s not all bad. He gave me a Trump bobble head doll for Christmas. I show it to everyone who comes to the house.
Mike and I went gopher hunting. I drove and Mike shot. He is just like all the other big game hunters. If he hit the gopher it was a good shot. If he missed the gopher, it was the gun’s fault. Be advised, if you go hunting with Mike, take extra ammunition.
Mike, my wife and I took numerous fall suppers. While we were enjoying our coffee after dinner, Mike would be off for a smoke where he would visit all the other smokers. He never came home without meeting someone new. The food was always good. That saying “a good time was had by all” fit here.
I’m going to miss that Mikey with his Timmie’s coffee and all his visits. We can still phone each other, but it’s not the same as an in-person visit. He has promised me that he will quit smoking and I hope he does that. I will say goodbye for now and maybe we will see you in the movies. Stay above the grass, Mikey!!!
