Tim Hortons Camp Day has almost become a national charity holiday.
This year’s Camp Day is May 31 at all Tim Hortons outlets.
It’s an opportunity for Tim Hortons customers and restaurant owners across North America to send thousands of kids to summer camps.
Every penny raised during the 24-hour period from the sale of coffee, Camp Day bracelets, donations, special events and activities is donated to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation.
Camp Day in 2016 raised more than $13.1 million.
Once again, the Children’s Foundation welcomes volunteers to help pour coffee or greet guests on Camp Day.
Since the Children’s Foundation’s inception in 1974, more than 237,000 children have benefited from a potentially life changing camp experience.
Campers learn the importance of setting goals, the value of teamwork and discover their leadership potential.
The Children’s Foundation said going to camp is often the catalyst for change when the young people return home feeling stronger and more connected to their communities.
They also tend to feel more optimistic about their futures.
