The Lloydminster & District Fish Game Association is on target to re-open its indoor pistol shooting range with new safety and comfort features in place for members and guests.
The celebration will take place at the Gully Lake range site east of Lloydminster on May 7 to unveil a new eight lane target track retrieval system and an indoor washroom.
The event will start at 1 p.m. with a barbecue, followed by a recognition of volunteers that did the work and a shooting demonstration of the electronic retrieval system.
“The target track system is a welcome upgrade to the facility as it enhances the existing safety factors that any range must possess, but also adds to the efficiency and the ability to shoot at your own desired distance on each lane,” said Dwayne Davison, the association president.
The range is located one and-a-half miles north of Highway 303 and the Marshall 10-km intersection.
“We’ve got a complete indoor washroom with water and sewer and everything,” said Davison.
The range is accessed by a foyer that’s about 15-ft by 36-ft.
Davison said the upgrades started last July with volunteer help and sponsorships supporting the project.
“With the help of a group of dedicated volunteer LDFGA members, lane sponsors, and bathroom construction sponsors, we were able to make it happen.”
