Eagle Builders has landed at Lakeland College.
The Blackfald Alberta precast concrete manufacturer has stepped up as the official presenting sponsor of Lakeland’s President’s Gala on March 24 at the Lloydminster campus.
“On behalf of Eagle Builders, it’s an honour to be part of the 2017 President’s Gala,” said Craig Haan,  company director.
This year will be the fifth gala that shines a light on how students take the lead at Lakeland including planning and hosting the gala.
“We are committed to helping students gain the training and experience they need to meet their goals,”  said Haan.
He said by supporting the gala, Eagle is excited to give back and help provide Lakeland students with valuable opportunities to take the lead.
Haan’s sister in-law actually attended Lakeland and Eagle Builders has been a sponsor of various dairy and agricultural endeavours at the Vermilion campus for the last five to seven years.
That makes Eagle a strong frontrunner to construct a proposed Dairy Learning Centre at the Vermilion campus.
The campus is holding an open house on the new dairy project at the Renewable Energy Learning Centre on Feb. 6 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Drawings of the proposed facility, information on the storage and disposal of solid and liquid manure, and steps taken to improve the environmental performance of the dairy centre will be shared.
The planned state-of-the-art dairy centre will enhance both education and applied research.
Haan said he was raised on a hog farm so he knows all about the farming world.
“I’ve got 80 acres of beef cows at home, but construction is our business,”  he said.
“We’ve got a fair size general contracting and precast manufacturing business—we’ve got about 195 staff.”
Eagle Builders specializes in commercial, industrial and agricultural design-build services,  as well as the supply and installation of CPCI Certified precast products to the Western Canadian market.
Haan said his connections at Lakeland led the college to ask the company if they would be interested in partnering with Lakeland for the gala.
“For what they gala does,we felt there was good value in that,” said Haan who is one of three partners in Eagle along with his brother and brother in-law.
Friends of the college, industry leaders and members of the community will celebrate student achievement and leadership during the gala, presented by Eagle Builders.
“Lakeland College is thrilled to have Eagle Builders as the presenting sponsor of the 2017 President’s Gala,” said Alice Wainwright-Stewart, Lakeland’s president.
“Their investment in our students is appreciated.”
Wainwright-Stewart said every dollar raised at the gala increases Lakeland’s student awards program, making it possible for more students to access the money they need for their education.
This year, George Canyon, a Canadian country music legend is headlining the 2017 gala.

Haan is looking forward to attending the gala and he won’t be coming alone.
“My brother in law and sister are unable to attend, but my brother and our wives are going to be there and some of our staff,” he said.
