The Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre won the Anne Townsend award for promotion of the arts for their efforts at the Arts Without Borders Festival this past week.
The Anne Townsend Arts Award recognizes a media organization, arts organization or business that has promoted the Arts in a distinctly creative or exceptional manner.
Anne Townsend was a renowned supporter of the arts and the Lloydminster area, serving on the Board of Directors of the Vic Juba Community Theatre for several years.
Previously, Townsend also served as the Seat Sponsor Chairman when a dedicated committee of volunteers was established to raise funds to build the Vic Juba Community Theatre.
Townsend was a founding member and the first President of the Lloydminster Concert Series Association.
She was also one of the key committee members to assist the Arts Without Borders Festival in hosting the 2007 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards.
