It took firefighters several hours to make sure all was safe at a June 3 fire at the Buckle and Tier Ultra Lounge, 6601-43 St.

A fire broke out in the building that houses both the Buckle and the Tier Ultra Lounge in the early hours of June 3, and though the blaze was quickly contained, both businesses will be closed for the foreseeable future.
Firefighters got the call at 2:44 a.m. and had the 6601 43 St. blaze under control shortly after 3 a.m., but because of structural damage, they had to step back for a while and were on the scene until 8 a.m.
“We received reports of smoke coming out of a large commercial building and it was the Tier and Buckle nightclubs—upon arrival there was heavy smoke,” said Jordan Newton, fire chief with the Lloydminster Fire Department.
“Firefighters did get a quick knockdown on the fire; unfortunately the building was compromised due to structural damage, so we did have to pull away and it did take us a long time after that to get a hold of everything; the fire is still under investigation.”
Nobody was hurt as a result of the blaze, and though the amount of fire damage was minimal, there was enough heat and smoke damage to put the loss at an estimated $1.5 million.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined and whether or not it was a result of arson is still being investigated.
All things considered, Newton said both Tier Ultra Lounge and the Buckle will soon be able to serve their respective clienteles again without too much trouble.
“It should be up and operational before too long, with all the great restoration companies, they’ll have it up and going,” he said.
