RCMP pulled over a vehicle Thursday, arrested a suspect which lead to two search warrants that yielded a large amount of drugs, weapons and cash.

Little did RCMP know that when they stopped a vehicle, it would lead to a massive haul of drugs and weapons.
“Further to that investigation, two search warrants were completed, one of them in the 5400 block of 16 St. and another on the vehicle,” said Const. Grant Kirzinger.
“As a result, four firearms were recovered from the car itself as well as large quantities of cash and drugs from the residence.”
Kirzinger said whenever RCMP are able to get guns, drugs and dirty money off the streets, it makes a positive impact on the community, especially when they’re able to put prolific offenders behind bars.
Seizing handguns is also a notable relief for police as they are easily concealed and usable from inside a vehicle, making traffic stops more dangerous, Kirzinger said.
RCMP were able to achieve Thursday’s results with the help of their crime analyst, who provides them with “hotspots,” through which police are able focus attention and patrols for investigations.
Analysts also give police lists of these prolific offenders.
Thursday’s bust was a result of the RCMP’s crime reduction strategy, which uses employees from all of the detachment’s departments.
“Everybody at the detachment has been involved in these investigations,” said Kirzinger.
“So having those resources is hugely important for us and something that aids us in doing the best job possible.”
