There are only about 40 tickets left to sell for the inaugural Dreaming Out Loud Children’s Ball as word of the Disney-themed evening spreads.
The ball is the brainchild of the Lloydminster Interval Home Society that will entertain kids and raise $25,000 or more towards a long-term $7.5 million capital works project.
“We’ve been planning it for over a year, but as we get closer to the event the buzz is starting to pick up,” said Angela Rooks-Trotzuk , executive director of the LIHS.
“People are very excited because it is a formal children’s event that we actually haven’t seen in the community before,” she said.
“We are theming the event on Frozen, which is probably one of the most popular Disney movies right now.”
LIHS plans to make the ball an annual event with a different theme each year.
This year’s event will be held March 12 at the Wild Rose Pavilion with plans to move it to a larger location at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds in 2017.
“We just really want to create a special event that parents can come with their children and just have a wonderful time,” added Charlene Rowein assistant executive director of LIHS.
“Everything we are going to be doing is geared to children but in a very formal gala type setting.
“Being a ball, it’s going to be a formal event, but girls can dress as princess and boys as superheroes too.”
Tickets can be purchased for $75 each by contacting LIHS to arrange for payment and pickup.
The program and supper will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a total of 200 guests including kids, adult guardians and sponsors.
Everything inside the Pavilion will be decorated and related to the Frozen movie theme to create a sense of wonder for the kids.
There will also be local people dressed up as the characters from Frozen as well as super heroes who will interact with the kids.
The event will include menus for children and adults and activities such as story telling and crafts all related to the Frozen theme.
There will also be a dance and a special entertainer whose identity is being kept a secret.
