The approximate $1.4 million expansion of the city’s Russ Robertson Arena is ready for public inspection.
The city held an open house and conducted tours of the new addition Monday afternoon following a brief ceremony with city officials.
Coffee and donuts were provided to the public.
The renovation contract was awarded to Bexon Construction last May with the work completed in December.
The expansion doubled the size of the arena’s four dressing rooms and includes an additional women’s change room.
The foyer area has been upgraded to include a concession.
The arena was built in 1976 and is available for winter and summer bookings for hockey games, figure skating practice, auctions, community garage sales or even family reunions.
The expansion of the rink located at 5105 34 Street was identified as a priority in the city’s 2015 capital budget.
