On Feb. 20, the second phase of the 25th Street Sanitary Trunk Extension Project begins.

A stretch of 23 Street from 58A to 59 Avenue is expected to be closed until mid-March for sanitary sewer upgrades.

The construction will restrict College Park residents from being able to access 59 Avenue. They will be required to use 57A Avenue as a detour route instead.

The City of Lloydminster encourages drivers to take alternate routes to avoid construction and to factor in extra driving time due to road restrictions and increased congestion.

The 25th Street Sanitary Trunk Extension Project started on Jan. 12, and according to the city, the upgrades will reduce the sewer surcharge that Lloydminster experiences at times of heavy rain. The upgrades were first recommended in the 2009 Sanitary Sewer Master Plan.

More information about the project and traffic-related updates can be found online at www.lloydminster.ca/25Street.
