The Lloydminster RCMP are looking for suspects after a series of vehicle fires last week.
Just after 3 a.m. on Dec. 3, detachment members responded to a call of two trucks burning in a driveway near 54 Avenue and 35 Street. Thirteen minutes later, another call was received stating that a truck was on fire and that another was drenched in gasoline near 43 Avenue and 32 Street.
Lloydminster RCMP and Lloydminster Fire Department attended and put out fires at both locations and secured the scenes for investigation. The Lloydminster Forensic Identification Section and the Police Dog Services Section also attended to assist with the investigations that are ongoing.
“These fires were reported shortly after they were set allowing for RCMP and Lloydminster fire to attend quickly, which limited the amount of damage to neighbouring vehicles and buildings,” said Const. Grant Kirzinger. “These situations could have ended up much worse and the RCMP are relieved there were no injuries.”
Two males were seen fleeing the scene of the second arson and got into a four-door car. The men were described as being shorter and had skinny builds. Lloydminster RCMP are looking for anyone who may have witnessed either of these crimes and ask that they contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400.
