One woman has died following a head on collision that took place on Highway 17, just south of Township Road 514, Tuesday morning.

Maidstone RCMP received a call just before 8 a.m.

The collision involved two motor vehicles. A car was travelling northbound on Highway 17 and another was passing motor vehicles while traveling southbound. The southbound car collided head-on with the northbound vehicle.

The female driver in the northbound vehicle was deceased at the scene. The other driver received medical treatment by attending EMS. Lloydminster Rescue and assisting fire departments were all on scene assisting with traffic control.

That portion of Highway 17 was closed during the course of the police investigation and remained closed for several hours on Tuesday.
