The Maidstone RCMP is currently on the scene of a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17, just south of Township Road 514, north of Lloydminster, Sask. The collision was reported to the RCMP just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

The collision involved two motor vehicles. A car was travelling northbound on Highway 17 and another was passing motor vehicles while traveling southbound. The southbound car collided head-on with the northbound vehicle. The female driver in the northbound vehicle was deceased at the scene. The other driver is receiving medical treatment by attending EMS. Lloydminster Rescue, assisting fire departments are on scene assisting with traffic control.

This portion of Highway 17 is closed during the course of the police investigation, flag personnel are directing traffic to an alternate route.  Investigation is continuing, next of kin has not been confirmed to have been completed; the names are withheld at media release time.

The Highway will remain closed while police investigate, Lloydminster coroner is on scene, and a Traffic Collision Analyst is en route from Battleford RCMP traffic services section. Motorists are advised to use caution on the alternate route and we ask your patience during this closure. When the road re-opens an update will be submitted via media release.
