The community came out in droves to get gas and a burger and celebrate the grand opening of the east end Co-op in grand style. A couple of radio stations were on hand to mark the opening, as well as the Lloydminster Source.
Don Stephenson, CEO of Lloydminster and District Co-op was on hand to participate in the celebrations of the day, an important day in the history of the Co-op’s moving forward into the future.
When asked what brought him out, he said, “The opening of our new gas bar, convenience store and car wash. I am pretty excited about what we have got to offer here in the east end of Lloydminster. It has been a pretty steady lineup outside for the burgers and for the opening ceremony and for the ribbon cutting. We’ve had a really great turnout today.”
Even the weather co-operated with the timeline for the opening ceremonies. That is something you cannot plan for, and Stephenson said, “It has been a wonderful experience.
After a brief welcoming speech thanking the customers for their continued support, Stephenson said, “and the patronage of our co-operative here.”
Besides opening up the business, “There are burgers that are being done outside, we’ve got some face painting for the kids, we’ve got some free coffee for the adults and some free slushees and slurpees for the kids,” said Stephenson.
There were a few draws for door prizes and some donations to the Handi-van Society and one to the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department.
