Holy Rosary Raiders or Lloyd Comp Barons?
The Wheatland Football League trophy is staying in the Border City, but which local high school team will take home the prize?
That is going to be determined Saturday afternoon as the two lock horns for the second straight year in the championship game.
“When we played over there and we lost, after the game I said, hopefully in five or six weeks we will be back. We had to take care of business to that point, we did what we had to do. The boys are excited and it’s going to be fun,” Barons head coach Justin Kelly said.
“We’re very excited, it doesn’t get any bigger than this for football in Lloydminster. Everyone is looking forward to this, it’s going to be a fun week,” Raiders assistant coach, Dustin Fallscheer said.
Not only do the coaches know how big the game is going to be, but the players are fired up for a chance to claim football supremacy in Lloydminster.
“It’s going to be exciting to play,” Raiders wide receiver, Reid Coleman said. “It’s a good rivalry, hopefully it will be a good, hard played football game. They’re a good team, we’re looking forward to it.”
On the other side, the Barons are excited, but are looking for some revenge after falling to the Raiders in the regular season meeting.
“We’re all excited, we get to go back and redeem ourselves after the last game. We feel like we can win and we’re ready to get back there and do what we know we can do,” Barons wide receiver Brendan Benson said.
Kick-off Saturday is set for 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary High School.
