Following a string of robberies throughout the city, Lloydminster RCMP believe they have their man.
Adam Theodore Snell was arrested Tuesday night in Lloydminster without incident and has been charged with four counts of robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody and will be appearing in both Alberta and Saskatchewan Provincial Courts, dates have yet to be determined.
RCMP had earlier issued an appeal to the public to help track down Snell as a suspect in numerous robberies in the city.
“We are not running out of anything to do here, we’ll be employed for awhile,” said Cpl. Grant Rusk, prior to Snell’s arrest. “We (were) certainly looking for Mr. Snell. ”
RCMP were called to a robbery at the 50 Avenue 7/11, which occurred at 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Snell, entered the store, pretended to pay for an item and then proceeded to grab money from the till. The suspect tried to smash open a second till, but was unsuccessful. The suspect also stole cigarettes. Snell is suspected to be connected with other recent robberies reported in and around the Lloydminster area.
“We believe that it’s fueled by drug use,” said Rusk.
Lloydminster RCMP’s investigation into the string of recent robberies is continuing and additional charges against Snell are pending.
