At about 8:20  a.m. on Monday a super-b tanker semi unit traveling eastbound on Highway 16 collided with a service rig near the Highway 897 intersection at Kitscoty. The collision resulted in a diesel fuel oil spill and fire that has closed Highway 16 to both east and westbound traffic. It is believed that the eastbound tanker struck a service rig that was in the process of entering Highway 16 off of Highway 897.

The collision caused the tanker to jack-knife, resulting in a puncture to the lead tank containing diesel fuel.
