The Christmas season is officially upon us when the Festival of Trees takes place.
The trees are all prepared for the annual gala, which takes place Monday night at Spiro’s Restaurant (1408 50 Avenue).
The gala features around a dozen beautifully decorated trees that are up for the highest bidder, including five seven-foot and three four-foot tall. There is also a set of spruce trees, a wreath, prints and a Mayfield weekend for two up for auction. Numerous silent auction items have also been donated.
“It’s a wonderful evening,” said chairman Gladys Oracheski. “There’s hors d’oeuvres and food served by Spiro’s and wine. It’s just a really good festive time to get into the Christmas spirit.”
Anyone interested is welcome to view the trees at Spiro’s with the bidding taking place the night of the gala.
Proceeds from the event go to the Richard Larsen Barr Colony Foundation, a tradition since 1998.
Tickets are available at the Barr Colony Heritage Cultural Centre, Spiro’s, or by calling 780-875-1791.
“I’d like to thank all the wonderful volunteers, all the community for their support,” said Oracheski.
Doors open for the gala at 6:30 p.m., with auction beginning at 7 p.m..
Tickets are $35, corporate tables are available.
