You don’t have to believe in magic to see the illusion coming to Lloydminster.
Magician Ted Outerbridge and his partner and wife Marion, will perform Magical Moments in Time at the Vic Juba Community Theatre, tomorrow night.
“You don’t have to believe in magic, we’re not trying to make people believe, we’re entertaining them with illusion,” said Outerbridge. “There’s something in it for everyone.”
The 95-minute family show will include a variety of magic, including small slight of hand magic and grand illusion magic.
Outerbridge will climb into a seven-foot tall alarm clock and travel back in time, vanishing and reappearing as a ‘60s psychic game show host.
He says while secrets from the show can’t be revealed, the illusion will amaze and entertain.
“The show is a very interactive show, so the audience is hugely important,” he said. “Involving the audience in the show gets more reaction from people because they’re not just watching the show, they’re a part of it.”
Outerbridge combined his fascination with magic and marketing background to promote and propel his show of illusion. He and his wife have been working together onstage for 12 years, but his performances began much earlier.
“I was obsessed with performing magic from the age of seven,” said Outerbridge, adding at 12 years old he was performing at birthday parties and small shows in the neighbourhood.
“I was watching television one day and saw a local magician, Magic Tom, performing and he just blew me away, I wanted to make other people experience the wonder that I had experienced.”
Magical Moments in Time is the largest touring illusion show in Canada and recently earned Outerbridge a nomination as British Columbia’s Performing Artist of the Year.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow evening. Contact the Vic Juba box office for ticket information at (780) 872-7400.
